Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing Ms. Susan Boyle.
I saw this video yesterday and it made me cry. I saw it again today. Again, I cried. She touched me so. This talented and beautiful woman warmed my heart in such a way that it is hard to describe. To see her, so happy and sure of herself despite the laughs and mockery, brought forth the tears because isn't that just the way we are? We prejudge people by how they look and sometimes act. Yet, she stood there, not being affected and gave it her best! God bless her.
And she sung. What an angel. She could not have chosen a better song with better lyrics. Beautiful. Just magnificent. She surprised and humbled every single person there. And, for once, I believe we did not mind being proven wrong and feeling ashamed of ourselves for our thoughts because we were happy that the truth smacked us hard in the face; we deserved it and we welcomed it. This is one time we were happy to have learned a very humbling lesson: that that which is beautiful and magnificent does not always come wrapped up in pretty little packages.
She's never been kissed? Well, Ms. Boyle, I doubt now you will die without your Prince Charming coming to knock on your door and slip on that glass slipper because dear lady, dear beautiful heart, all of your dreams are about to come true and we could not be happier for you.

Wasn't this the best! I love it! I also cried! She is such an inspiration!
I saw this on the tube last night and was totally impressed. It's just like the man who won last year singing opera. A very humbling experience for the judges. Thanks for posting this.
That's what I always say,it's not the apparence that counts it's what you've made of inside. What God gave you,the gift.
Missy: I can't see it enough. I am now finally able to watch it without crying! But, without fail, a great big smile takes over my face. It is so heartwarming.
Lori: Humbling for us all, dear heart. A big wake-up call, like the judge said.
Candi: Isn't that truth? Yet, many still make judgments just from outer appearances. This is why this touched me so because this is exactly why we should not! We believe beauty resides inside beautiful packages but then again, how many beautiful people have we encountered in life that are anything but inside? There is definitely a lesson here.
She touched so many hearts overnight, including my iron heart.
i too cried like a baby when i watched it, with a smile on my face, so hopeful and inspirational and such a good reminder to not judge ... :-)
I totally bawl every time I watch the video! Yes indeed. What a lovely lesson to a lot of people. I loved how the camera peeps scanned the audience for their reactions before, during and after. Such a lesson indeed.
I wish I could say this will make a lasting impact on society and their insistence on giving beauty such a narrow margin.
I saw this on TV on the weekend and she won over many hearts :)
I have watched this video over and over and over....chills. Makes me ask myself how I can feel so sorry for myself...when I see this woman walk out and do the impossible...so can I! (crying)
Daisies: You and I both!
Mama Hen: Oh, I think you like us to think you have an iron heart, but we know different! ((hugs))
Catherine: She's become an overnight celebrity! Good for her! ((hugs))
Genie: A very good lesson here. It is good that we are occasionally reminded of our judgmental ways. ((hugs))
Paris: Nothing is impossible, dear heart, always remember that. You just have to believe. ((hugs))
Hi Rebecca!
This nice lady is the living proof that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
She has a wonderful voice, and a beautiful smile, and I bet that with a little help of an image consultant and some stylists, she will be kissed very soon.
Just like the little prince said in that wonderful story... you have to look at people with your heart. ;)
((abrazos, dear))
It is very difficult not to be touched by her story. The fact that so many people are moved by her is most encouraging. By the way, I LOVE your playlist. "Moonlight in Vermont" with Ella and Satchmo is playing as I write.
Leni: Isn't that the truth?! Oh, I think Ms. Boyle, once they give her an image consultant and a stylist, will be looking mighty fine! I tell you, there is a beautiful woman living underneath those frumpy clothes.
Judith: It is an encouraging story indeed. And, yes, "Moonlight in Vermont" is one of my faves, I can never get enough of that song. I'm glad you're enjoying the playlist.
You summed it up so beautifully, Rebecca. Bless her sweet heart for getting up there. Her voice really is astounding in that I don't think anyone who hears her is not deeply moved.
Rebecca, I was late to comment on your previous post -which I've just enjoyed reading right now-, but I've left my comment there.
Sorry for the bad timing, but I loved what you wrote and I had something to tell you there.
(abrazos)
I loved this article in the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-wilentz19-2009apr19,0,5091314.story
We have to remember that "reality" TV is edited, so those audience reactions are edited to elicit a certain reaction from the viewing audience. I'm sure not everyone was as insufferably snarky and judgemental as the few they showed on TV.
Nonetheless, BRAVO for Susan Boyle! What a beautiful gift she's been given and how very brave of her to step on that stage and share that gift with the world!
Rose: most definitely we have to remember that everything we see or read is never the full story! Absolutely! The reactions of the snarky and cynical only adds to the unfortunate entertainment value and sways the TV audience down that wrong, wrong road. Many times it is done to make fun of people that really have no talent (and, which I think this is quite mean) and, sometimes, in this case as a surprise "got you!" moment for us that we don't mind at all.
But, kudos, to Ms. Boyle...she's is no longer unknown and good for her to have had that courage to pursue that which sings to her soul, despite the snarky and cynical faces and comments.
That was the PERFECT song. Yes, I believe we all identify with her. So many dreams waiting to come true.
She has an awesome voice, and I love how the tables were turned. Did you see her new 'makeover' as they call it. I kinda liked her just the way she was.
